The Flax Weaving Museum opened its doors in 2009 as a celebration of the proud flax weaving history of Denmark. Located in West Funen, in southern Denmark, the museum was built in the area where Danish flax weaving history was born and later industrialised. Over 100 years of textile production are on panoramic display at the museum, showcasing the different patterns produced through the ages, from the Viking looms and industrial machines, to the computer-programmed looms of today.

The Flax Weaving Museum is presented as a working manufacturer. Volunteers work on, operate, and maintain the looms every week. This is done both as a demonstration as well as to preserve and keep this traditional handicraft alive for the visitors to see, hear and feel for themselves. The past, present, and future intertwine at the venue. Here you will discover the relevance of ancient techniques still being discovered and practised by artisans around the world today.
