The Blacksmith’s Museum is a part of the Museum of the History of Lithuania Minor. Its collection comprises old Klaipėda cemetery crosses, fences and gates from Lithuania Minor, unique weathervanes typical only of Klaipėda, as well as iron sun-crosses of Greater Lithuania that were saved from destruction during the Soviet era. Also on display at the museum are authentic work tools used by blacksmiths as well as the household utensils and fishing tools forged by them. The museum was established in 1992 at a special location, on the spot where the smithy of Fr. Grimas once stood. Next to it was the forge of the famous Klaipėda blacksmith Gustav Katzke, who operated here from the end of the 19th century.

The connection to Gustav Katzke inspired the restoration of the interior of his forge at the museum. Among the exhibits are cast iron streetlights made by him, as well as the authentic sign that hung above his forge. The crafts of the Klaipėda region, including blacksmithing, have long traditions. Not only items produced by blacksmiths but also their work tools can be seen at the museum, which will allow the visitors to come closer to the authentic history of this region. The exhibition harmoniously brings together the cultures of Greater Lithuania and Lithuania Minor.
