Opened in 2011, the brainchild of building contractor and art collector Sven-Harry Karlsson is one of the latest additions to the Swedish art scene. The 400 square metre exhibition space is divided into two floors, with a media room on the lower ground floor, and housed in a lustrous golden cube designed by Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. On the top floor, surrounded by a rooftop terrace, a replica of Sven-Harry Karlsson’s former home has been created.

The space holds one of the country’s largest private collections of Nordic art with works by artists such as Carl Fredrik Hill, Ernst Josephson, August Strindberg and Helene Schjerfbeck as well as furniture by Gio Ponti and carpets by textile artist Märta Måås-Fjetterström. Recent temporary exhibitions include the results of an experimental workshop where contemporary designers challenged each another to abandon their routines for one year in order to find new working methods, as well as an exhibition of contemporary photographic art.
