This shop sells unique handmade carpets, all made by the weavers of the Siberian Carpet Manufactory using the original historic techniques from the 18th century. The carpet trade in the region dates back to more than 300 years ago, and the manufacturer once employed 700 weavers and catered for the Soviet government: the locally made carpet runners can still be found in the corridors of the Kremlin. Today, 22 artisans are reviving the art of making both traditional Russian patterns and replicas of paintings and folk artworks, in addition to made-to-order items. The range includes pile, terry, sumac and medley carpets and rugs of different sizes, carpet runners, car seats and a selection of carpets for children. All carpets are made of mutton wool or silk on cotton foundation. The manufacturer is renowned for its diverse colour palette and high qualtity handiwork.
