Founded in 1984 by master accordion maker Franz Schmidt Senior, Schmidt Harmonika is a well known address among lovers and connoisseurs of Alpine folk music. The brand is run today by Franz Schmidt Junior who has been developing not just traditional but also innovative techniques and designs. The Schmidt family workshop in Styria is also a showroom where accordion players can choose from a rich selection of available products – all meticulously handcrafted – or order a custom-made instrument by selecting from a variety of woods as well as colours, bellows and patterns, always in close collaboration with the brand’s master artisans.
