Eggenberg Palace is a one-of-a-kind museum and a listed UNESCO World Heritage site that used to be the residence of Imperial Governor Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg. In addition to temporary exhibitions, the palace houses three permanent exhibitions; the Old Gallery exhibits pieces centred around 500 years of Austrian Gothic, masterpieces from the Rennaissance and Baroque, faith of the Middle Ages and pieces from the copperplate engraving cabinet; original pieces from the Palace’s coin cabinet tell stories from Styria; and finally, the Archaeology Museum has more than 1,200 objects on display that are part of a world-class collection of Hallstatt-period objects.

24 state rooms furnished with original 17th and 18th-century furniture, decoration and tapestries and their early Baroque Planetary Room made by the former court artist Hans Adam Weissenkircher is another highlight of a visit to the museum. For a small additional fee, you can complete your visit in the beautiful park and garden surrounding the Eggenberg Palace.
