A remarkable palace decorated with baroque frescoes and enriched by important artworks, Palazzo Moroni is located in the Upper Town of Bergamo. It has the biggest private garden of the town, a historical park composed of Italian gardens and a vegetable plot. The Moroni family has owned this residence, exceptionally preserved in its original layout, since 1636. From the entrance courtyard, the monumental staircase (adorned by Gian Giacomo Barbello) leads to halls and rooms frescoed and furnished between the 16th and 19th centuries.

The Moroni Collection is kept here: a large number of artworks, among which the celebrated “Knight in Pink” (1560) stands out, a masterpiece by Giovanni Battista Moroni. On the main floor, visitors find inlaid furniture, precious ceramics and art objects, such as the 18th-century console tables with mosaic tops from Villa Adriana in Tivoli. Outside, the Italian hanging gardens lead to the Pensatoio del Conte (Count's Pensieve), a neo-medieval style turret built in the 19th century. Palazzo e Giardini Moroni is a FAI property, Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano being the National Trust for Italy, protecting historical, artistic and landscape heritage.
