The museum of cloth and technology (Museum Tuch + Technik) is located in the city centre of Neumünster next to the event hall. The building was opened on 13 October 2007. Neumünster can look back on a long tradition of textile production, which ended in the early 1990s, when the last cloth factory was closed. Over the 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, the museum shows almost 2000 years of history both of cloth making and of the city of Neumünster.

Many of the objects can not only be looked at, but also be actively used. Visitors of all ages, for example, are invited to comb wool, to weave or to examine fibres under a microscope. Once a week a master handweaver shows how a hand loom is operated and produces cloth for the museum shop. The staff of the museum will demonstrate the impressive industrial textile machines. In addition to the permanent exhibition the museum is known for its special exhibitions on different aspects of textile art.
