Johan Valcke studied archaeology and history of art at the University of Ghent. After working from 1975 to 2017 for the Belgian and Flemish government organising events centred around design and contemporary crafts, in 2018 he opened his own gallery in his hometown, Ghent. Valcke Art Gallery presents 3D tangible art handmade using traditional and new materials. Its focus is on contemporary, witty, innovative and inspired applied art. Technique and imagination, humour and fantasy, deep emotional analysis, top craftsmanship and tacit knowledge generate mind blowing objects, objects that carry the ideas and vision of the maker.
