Nina Yashar, one of Milan’s top design dealers, founded Nilufar Gallery in Milan in 1979. In 2015, in a building that once housed a silverware factory, she opened Nilufar Depot, a massive warehouse showcasing her collection of vintage and contemporary design pieces. Located near Milan’s Garibaldi train station, this 1,500m2 space is arranged over three levels with a central atrium, a layout inspired by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Renovated by Italian architect Massimiliano Locatelli, it houses part of Yashar’s extensive design collection in a relaxed and slightly industrial atmosphere, allowing contemporary design to sit harmoniously alongside iconic vintage pieces, including works by legends Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti.
