The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum (Museo Bagatti Valsecchi), located in the heart of Milan’s fashion quarter, opened in 1994. Once the palatial mansion of renowned 19th century collectors, brothers Barons Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi, after whom it is named, the museum is a fine example of neo-renaissance decoration. Upon acquiring the historic mansion, the two brothers set about refurbishing it, inspired by 16th century Lombard mansions, collecting artworks, objects and furnishings dating back to the Italian Renaissance.

The museum houses the original paintings, sculptures, tapestries, rugs, furniture, arms, ceramics, jewellery, domestic utensils and items of bronze, glass and iron collected by the brothers. The ornate decorative ceilings and wall panels, as well as the wallpaper, frescoes and marble columns, have all been beautifully preserved. Many of the antiques housed in the museum exemplify the fine craftsmanship of the Italian Renaissance era.
