Lino Tagliapietra

Glassblower

Journey of a lifetimeMaybe the most known Venetian glass blower and artist in the world, Lino Tagliapietra was born in 1934 in Murano, where the tradition of glassworking dates back to 1291. Precociously talented, he began to work as an apprentice at eleven and never stopped. Very curious and open-minded, at twenty-one he already was a “Maestro”. He worked for the most important glass factories and then on his own. An unstoppable experimenter, living in symbiosis with glass, he has had a crucial role in spreading the Venetian culture of glass in the world, namely in the USA, where he lives part of the year, also teaching and collaborating with artists and the scientists of the MIT. In his pieces, creativity, aesthetic qualities and prodigious technical skills are inseparable.
