Visions of Catalonia at The Room

A new dialogue between arts and crafts, from CataloniaThe Contemporary Craft Biennial "Visions of Catalonia – Crafting Art” is an event promoted by the Consortium of Commerce Crafts and Fashion in collaboration with the Catalonia Association of Art Galleries. It is aimed at showcasing contemporary crafts and visual art by local creators, promoting and recognising their techniques, craftsmanship and creativity. Visions of Catalonia wishes to support local artists and artisans developing new languages of contemporary art and crafts, both on a local level and on an international stage. The selection features works made by 31 creators who work in Catalonia, and who are committed to conceptual and artistic crafts. In their pieces, the creative process itself is the important part of the artworks, that have been shaped with artisan techniques, ranging from paper to metal, wood, ceramics and textiles. Realising their creations, the artists and artisans have showed mastery of the craft used.
