A journey through the history of Venetian lace art

A tour of the Lace Museum, or Museo del Merletto, in Burano is a journey through the history of Venetian lace art. The visit starts on the ground floor, where a short film introduces participants into the world of lace. Panels unveil the secrets of this craft, illustrating some lace points, such as the Venice and the Burano points. The tour develops on the first floor, in four rooms, documenting the evolution of the art of lace from the 16th to the 20th century, through more than 200 precious and rare items. Visitors will also have the chance to see the skilled master lacemakers at work.
