Discover Ecdisi: The decorative panel by Marina and Susanna Sent

Ecdisi is a decorative panel by Marina and Susanna Sent, made up of elements from the mixed technique of lampworking and glass fusing. Ecdisi (ecdysis, the moulting of animals) evokes a feathery mantle, that unfolds before our eyes, driven to explore the rich chromatism of the iridescent surface. The flexible structure seems to be as soft as the new plumage to which the title refers: the periodic moulting of feathers in birds. The artwork is about the moment of renewal: the natural regeneration of vitality is echoed in the transformation of the material, now revealing a once hidden possibility.

Marina and Susanna Sent

Glass jewellery making

Unveiling the hidden possibilities of glassMarina and Susanna Sent have taken the family tradition of glassmaking and updated into a highly original and contemporary craft, specialising in the design and production of glass jewellery and objets d’art. With different but complementary backgrounds, the two sisters – who share an appreciation of modernity and a passion for art – developed a peculiar approach to design. In their workshop, opened in 1993 and located on the Fondamenta Serenella on the island of Murano, they create original glass jewellery, the result of stylistic and technical innovations, as well as murrine and filigree glass sculptures, glass fusion plates, glass fabrics and lampshades made from interlinked pieces of glass: objects in balance between craftsmanship and design, characterised by a constant search for formal sleekness and for a modern style fluctuating between minimalism and fantasy. Their creations have been successfully exhibited at several national and international shows.
