Visit of the exhibition Abbandono by Lilla Tabasso

Nature is at the centre of the artistic experimentation by Lilla Tabasso, Milan based biologist and glass artist. She uses the ancient techniques of blowing and modelling at the flame. Her works are mainly flowers characterised by an incredible realism, that draw from nature an infinite palette of colours, limpid shades but also imperfections, fundamental for the artist: dry branches, faded flowers and wilting leaves. Tabasso’s creations look at the great tradition of the so called Vanitas, a peculiar kind of symbolic still-life evocating the transience of life and the inexorable passage of time.

Contemporary art

All about glassThis gallery, located near to Piazza San Marco, is owned and directed by Caterina Tognon, who collaborates with international artists and designers primarily working with glass. Occasionally the gallery takes an interest in the contemporary ceramic world. Caterina is deeply interested in investigating the cross section between fine art and applied arts. The gallery therefore retains a powerful identity and a recognisable style which has earned it a loyal following. She selects the projects personally and, depending on the theme of the exhibition, makes use of different curators. Since its founding in 1998, the gallery’s exhibition programme has favoured solo shows. Caterina also organises major exhibitions in collaboration with cultural institutions and museums in Venice and is a founding member of Cotisse.
