Contemporary jewels made with a traditional technique

60 minutes Max 8 people20 EUR per person

The technique used by Caterina Zucchi to create her Murano glass jewels was widely practised in Venice in the 14th century. Unlike glass furnaces in which several craftspeople work together, lampworking is characterised by the fact that the artisan works alone, using just the flame of a torch. After an introduction to the history of glass, Caterina demonstrates how she creates a bead in both solid and blown glass, using strictly Murano glass, which melts at low temperatures and cools slowly, allowing time to shape it by hand. The jewels can be purchased in the studio after the visit. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
