History of Italian railway transport in Naples
with Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa
Go back in time on the Pietrarsa Express train
3 hoursFrom 6 eurosThe Pietrarsa Express is the historic train that takes you to the Pietrarsa Museum directly from the centre of Naples. On board the “Centoporte” carriages, so called due to the many doors that open on the side, you will be able to retrace part of the route of the first Italian railway. The wooden seats will project you back in time, when the Naples-Portici section was inaugurated in 1839 by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, representing one of the first steps of the sovereign in the modernisation of the kingdom.
