Discover the art of bookbinding

“Binding a book requires concentration, attention, tranquility and total commitment to work,” according to Andreia and her father Fernando, who give lessons to bookbinding enthusiasts with or without prior experience. These open workshops are designed to enable each student to develop their own personalised binding according to their individual rhythm, level, desire and schedule. All the materials including needles, glue, ropes, reinforcement papers, paints and brushes are provided. Students can acquire skins if they choose to bind leather or other special materials such as marbled paper. All the machines in the workshop can be used with supervision. The focus is on classic and design binding and does not include engraving and gold leaf work.
