Learn the history of bell casting
2-3 hours Max 35 people3,50 euros per personThe Allanconi workshop and foundry is located in what once used to be the family farm. The vast courtyard hosts a collection of historic bells and objects as well as the remains of the first foundry, including original tools. The whole long process of crafting a bell is explained in detail during a tour of the foundry and small museum next to it, where the raw materials are on display. Workshops for children are hosted where they are encouraged to ring bells and make their own wax decorations. At the end each visitor receives what Emanuele calls a “ricordino” (little souvenir). He makes them by pouring the leftover bronze used for the casting in water; after sifting it he obtains shiny little pieces that historically are considered lucky charms.
