Rope pottery in modern times

Cord impressed pottery is one of the oldest methods of pottery-making. Neolithic farmers and hunters made pots, cups and amphorae out of this method of clay cords. At the Palanga Amber Museum, specialists will combine hands on experience with explaining to visitors about the archaeological evidence of what crockery the ancient Lithuanians used and how they made it. They may also surprise visitors by demonstrating that these same techniques are still used today. Visitors will learn to make a clay pot the way Neolithic people did. Or they might find that this technique can be applied to make a modern ceramic object as well. Or perhaps a protective amulet. Everything is possible if we let our imagination roam! Visitors will be able to keep their works.
