A Greek musical experience

After a guided tour of the instrument workshop, there will be a short demo on the manufacturing process of making pear-shaped strings such as bouzouki, lute and lavta. The structure and function of the instruments, their parts and the way the sound is produced will be presented. The visual material, the construction, the carpentry work required, the types of wood used, the methods of finishing and varnishing and finally the set-up will be explained in detail. A concert will follow, where various pieces from the Greek countryside, urban folk, rebetiko and Smyrna songs will be played. A traditional snack and a drink will be served to the participants. The experience must be booked in advance.
