Discover pâte de verre with a master
1 day (7 hours) Max 2 people£430 per groupMaster glassmaker Alison Lowry is known for creating evocative and technically challenging glassworks, often using pâte de verre, an ancient glassmaking technique in which glass powders or frits are mixed with a binder, pressed into a mould and kiln-fired. In this day-long intensive course, Alison offers expert tuition in the pâte de verre technique in her private studio. An enthusiastic and passionate teacher, Alison will help participants explore different aspects of glass fusing and develop techniques, guiding them to create two beautiful pâte de verre pieces – a large bowl and a flat piece, both personalised according to the participant’s own designs. Alison will also share her advice on firing schedules and coldworking techniques. The course fee includes tuition for up to two people, so the day can be enjoyed solo or shared with a friend. Alison is happy to adapt the course to the participants’ interests. Finished pieces will be sent on at no extra cost.
