The Syon Blue collection is inspired by the ornamental blue and white porcelain vases commissioned for the mantelpieces and cabinet tops of grand houses such as Syon House in west London. The decoration references the neoclassical and baroque decorative motifs found in the ornate Robert Adam plasterwork on the interior walls and ceilings of the house. Tamsin wanted to make the traditional blue and white porcelain pattern less formal, so it becomes abstracted within the body of the vases, emerging and disappearing through layers of translucent porcelain.
