Pattern of Crafts

This mosaic is handmade by applying partridge and golden pheasant feathers to a wood board. The partridge feathers are placed facing each other in a linear order, to form a geometric pattern. The golden pheasant feathers create a red accent, forming five interior centres in the composition.

Exhibition curator Sebastian Herkner took the geometric pattern of the terrace of the Basilica of San Giorgio, on San Giorgio Maggiore island, and invited selected master artisans to interpret this lace-like octagonal pattern in a graphic artwork.
