Artisan at work: Paper restoration

Master book and paper conservator Amandine Camp will be working live in Sala Messina, showcasing her craftsmanship. Amandine will demonstrate how to restore two damaged pieces of cultural property: a paper fan from the 18th century, as well as a paper umbrella from the 19th century. During the demonstration, Amandine will show how to restore these objects using dry cleaning techniques, the consolidation of tears and losses with Japanese paper, as well as retouching (colouring).
