Master engraver Yves Sampo will be working live alongside his trainee Claire Narboni in the Cenacolo room, demonstrating how to engrave a portrait of Molière (Jean-Baptiste Poquelin) on a medal. The artisans will use the traditional technique of direct steel cutting to model Molière’s face on a 41 mm diameter medal, using échoppes and chisels. Yves and Claire will also create the typographic letters that will compose the text of the medal. Finally, on a brass support they will engrave the facade of the Monnaie de Paris building in reverse, for embossing.
