Jacob Monk

Weaver

Jacob Monk is a textile artist and handweaver, who trained in textile design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London. Originally from Greater Manchester, he now works from his studio at Cockpit Arts in south-east London. Jacob’s design process aims to celebrate the history and craftsmanship that goes into making an ikat fabric: the ancient tradition of creating a pattern through the binding and dyeing of the warp yarns before they are put onto the loom to be woven. Jacob uses bold and unconventional colour combinations, inspired by nature, to create contemporary artworks for the modern interior space.
