Cassis Out Armchair
Designed by Piero Lissoni, the Bonacina 1889 Cassis chair is handwoven and carved in Italy by passionate artisans using rattan, a natural material that grows in the Far East. Rattan expresses strength, vitality and elasticity, and there are more than 100 varieties. The processing of the material has a very low environmental impact: the entire cane is used, from the skin to the inner part.

Each chair is handwoven and carved by skilful and highly specialised artisans who use local weaving know-how to transform rattan, a natural raw material that grows in the Far East, into an elegant piece of furniture. With more than 100 varieties available, after a rigorous selection process the rattan is shipped to the workshop in Italy. The structure of the chair frame is then formed from the rattan cane. Ensuring the object's durability in outdoor settings, Polycore, a recyclable synthetic fibre, is woven onto the chair frames to complete the design.
Remaining faithful to rattan, Bonacina 1889 consolidates its know-how of traditional weaving while innovating with new techniques and materials. It is enriched with the icons of Bonacina 1889's historical archive, to shape a stylistic proposal that embodies over 130 years of business.
