Artisan at work: Creating wildflower sculptures from wax

Master of wax botanical sculpture Annette Marie Townsend will be working live in Sala degli Arazzi, showcasing her craftsmanship. Annette will demonstrate the various stages in the creation of realistic and scientifically accurate wild-flower sculptures from wax. A variety of techniques will be employed to transform molten wax and mixed materials into individual plant parts, using pressed flower specimens and photographic images as a reference. These components will be carefully assembled to make the finished sculptures.
