The artistic touch of metal

Steaven Richard started his professional life wanting to discover various mindsets, which is why he travelled through Europe for ten years learning blacksmithing in Germany, Ireland and England. Following his training as a farrier, Steaven turned to blacksmithing for its artistic possibilities, a fundamental part of his work to this day. Opening his own workshop in 2001 was the beginning of this never-ending research for new techniques and artistic possibilities, two facets of his work that he has developed simultaneously. This need for superior craftsmanship – combined with an artistic vision of what metal can be – brought him to invent techniques unique to his work and sought after by the prestigious institutions he collaborates with.

The Bar des Ambassadeurs can be found in the Hôtel Crillon in Paris. Steaven Richard decorated their champagne cellar using brass with wood texture and a bronze patina, giving the room a classic golden allure.

Wooden textured brass cabinet
This brass cabinet by Steaven Richard was made using a dark bronze patina and a wooden texture. The materials used give it a dark minimalistic aspect, with the very thin golden handle standing out in the middle of the structure.

Ostrich egg suspension
The 5-light pendant by Steaven Richard resembles ostrich eggs suspended on long patinated brass rods. The five bulbs are hanging at different heights, giving each of them an individual place in the structure and an overall harmonious aspect.
