Sartoria Ferdinando Caraceni is renowned as one of the best bespoke tailors in the world. Originally founded in Milan in 1967, since 2004 it has been run by Ferdinando’s daughter Nicoletta, who absorbed all the secrets of her father's trade during the 20 years she worked alongside him. Now, she proudly upholds the company's renowned quality, working for clients who desire suits of particular importance.
Nicoletta considers the workshop to be “a happy island”, far removed from consumerism and mass produced clothes. “There is poetry in handiwork,” she says. “It is slow, in search of beauty and perfection, and not just profit.” The result is truly sustainable products, made in Italy by people who work ethically with only natural materials, according to time-honoured techniques.
