Textile sculptures

Sandra Schollmeyer is a textile and set designer in Hamburg. Her product design studies began in Kahlsruhe, where she was granted a scholarship to study at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome for two semesters. Upon returning to Germany, she enrolled in Textile Design at the HfbK in Hamburg, immersing herself in all textile techniques, such as tufting, weaving, screen printing and dyeing. After a semester, Sandra realised she could achieve a lot with her hands. Alongside her applied work and design activities, Sandra is interested in textile research and development. She worked as a project manager, consultant and researcher for the Goethe-Institute in Bangkok and Indonesia on the three-year regional project IKAT/eCut. The project explored the past, present and future of textiles in southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand between tradition, technology, art and design.

The colour scheme of this handwoven wall decoration is inspired by a haute couture dress. From the inside out, midnight blue, azure blue, emerald green and bright pink are boldly strung together. To keep the focus on the colours, the surface design is in an even rhythm.

This Wall Art collection, handmade by Sandra Schollmeyer, consists of large tassels, compact round braided and expansive fringed wall objects in bold colour combinations. They range from cobalt blue, bright red, sunshine yellow, pink, emerald green to black, white, grey and delicate rose, arranged into a vibrant wall composition.

Plaid W50
The plaid wall hanging is made of 12 different colours, some of which are bright in combination with neutral colours. It is woven from synthetic fibres and cotton cords using the twill weave. The weave is made by hand on a weaving frame specially constructed by Sandra Schollmeyer.

Each round side table consists of an oversized twill weave, handmade to measure, that clothes a cylindrical wooden body. The colourful fabric is created on a weaving frame specially constructed by Sandra Schollmeyer. Except for the wood cutting, everything is handmade by her.
