This plate and bowl are hand carved from grey Tinos marble. These useful utensils of the past have been adapted to today’s daily life. The platters depict Greek hospitality and the symposiums of the Ancient Greeks when fruit and lots of food were offered to valuable guests.

As a child Petros Marmarinos always made a paper boat and imagined himself sailing away to travel all over the world. As a sculptor he longed for a marble “paper boat” to recall and keep his childhood for ever. All Petros wants is to travel the art of marble in every part of our globe.

In Ancient Greece and particularly in the Cyclades, marble and ceramic glasses were used regularly. The inspiration for the design of these marble glasses and platter comes from the Cycladic civilisation and is connected with the small glasses we nowadays use to drink Raki, the local home-made spirit.

This hand carved statute of a sitting bird captures one of many images of Petros Marmarinos’s daily life. Hundreds of dovecotes can be found scattered all over Tinos and thousands of doves fly around bringing back memories of the past and the marble dove of the Ancient Greek civilisation. The Doves made of white marble symbolise doves of innocence and peace, on Tinos, in Greece and all over the world.
