Combining cultures

  • • Melania launched her brand in the year 2000
  • • Her jewellery is inspired by her trips to India, China and Japan
  • • Her studio is in the Navigli district of Milan

Melania Crocco decided to create jewellery following her studies in design which was too aseptic for her. Due to her passion for sculpture and painting, she instantly took to jewellery making as it gave her the possibility to merge all her fields of interest into one single object. “By emulating the painter, in fact, I insert textures of colour into the infinite and fascinating universe of precious stones,” she explains. “And like a sculptor, I play in the immensity of three-dimensional space with the aid of wax. After all, a jewel is like a small sculpture or a small painting… For me, creating jewellery has become an intimate necessity, the way in which I express myself.”

Holy Pine and Bambi

Ring with antique Japanese element called Kashira (Edo period) and a miniature engraving that depicts a centuries-old pine symbolizing wisdom and eternity. The Japanese element is mounted with some pivots on the base of the ring and the upper red gold slab. A brown rose-cut diamond is mounted between the tree branches like a sun or a moon in a mystic landscape.

Legami di Leggerezza

The model for this ring was made in wax to wrap around the finger. Visually it is a fusion between a feather and a leaf symbolizing the state of lightness that a love bond brings to mind. Melania has chosen brown diamonds for their warmness and intensity combined with pink gold that is her favourite alloy.

Tibetan bell - soul vibrations

This pendant is a realistic miniature of a Tibetan bell. It was made with mixed techniques (wax, lost wax casting and engraving) and aims to faithfully reproduce a symbol of feminity used during buddhist ceremony. It features a diamond on the inside, as an inner soul that produces magic and precious vibration.
