Innovation through play

  • • Lasse specialises in silver holloware
  • • He was artist in residence in London in 2018
  • • His silverware pieces capture the Nordic glow

Lasse Bæhring is a silversmith educated at the famous Georg Jensen Silversmithy in Denmark. Since 1993, he has taken this tradition to innovative, award-winning heights on his own. For Lasse, everything begins with play, and he insists on keeping a natural curiosity, wonder, and openness as his point of departure. Once a design is born, his honed craft skills take over. This phase is controlled, but he is always open to things taking a left turn by chance. In fact, he invites it. Lasse is inspired by nature and decay – his shapes are organic, his surfaces are raw and beautifully worn-looking.

Tivoli

These Tivoli pitchers are part of a design project based on heptagons. The pitchers are not real heptagons because the seven sides differ slightly in width. The design ranges from magnum, chopin, and demiard decanters and includes a series of drinking glasses that complements the decanters.

Fleur

These are champagne flutes for a picnic. The traditional base of the flute is replaced with a pointy stem that goes into the ground to rest between sips. They were created when Lasse Baehring was visiting artist at the Royal College of Art, and are now in the collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Grande Fleur

This is a chandelier in silver and steel. The arms balance on their own weight on the stainless steel core. All arms are removable, interchangeable and differ in length so you can organise the piece as you would organise a bouquet of flowers.
