This bowl is inspired by the shape of the cockscomb flower. It is made from birch trees grown in the barren alpine regions of Korea. The bowl's dark-coloured surface is the part that has been burned with fire, and the unburned part reveals the natural texture and colour of the wood. This object is finished with traditional Korean lacquer.

For Honggu Park, woodwork is his first and ultimate job. He started a relationship with wooden furniture when he was young. He was drawn to the evocative smell, feel and texture of wood. He continues to be enthralled by it and feels very privileged to be able to shape this living thing, and convey something of its vibrancy and vividness. He has created a wide variety of furniture. He sees his time working on wood not as a waste, rather as a time of accumulation of knowledge about wood and woodworking skills. For him, the tree is a companion, a life living together with him.

Emotion Chair III
This work "Emotion Chair III" is one of the artist's most representative works. The Emotion Chair is part of an ongoing series. The chairs backrest shows the wood's natural colour, while the dark sections of the chair are burned and finished with traditional Korean lacquer. As a structural feature of the chair, the hind leg is separately connected.
