Folded dish is a decorative sculptural piece in white clay with blue silk print. The dish plays with the viewer's perception. Is it a textile? Is it soft? How is it made? The slab building technique is used to make the folds. Each fold is gathered slowly and over a long period.

Perfectly imperfect

Helene Søs Schjødts is a ceramicist who works primarily with the porcelain and silk print technique – both for her tableware series and one-off pieces. She took her degree at the Royal Danish Academy in Bornholm in 2010 where she went on to set up a shop on the island immediately after graduation. In 2016, she moved back to Copenhagen where she is still based. Nature plays an integral part as a source of inspiration. Leaves as motifs or the colours of autumn find their way into the studio and become part of her series. The decorations lend their shapes to botanical or graphic inspiration, and the ceramicist explores new possibilities through photography and paper sketches. She incorporates minor imperfections in her objects because they add character and uniqueness to each piece, witnessing the handmade process.

Diamond
Diamond is a sculptural and geometrical wall piece with a shiny glaze that plays with optics and viewers' perception. How can the clay carry itself without bending? The piece is made of white porcelain clay with black silk print decoration using slab building technique.

Bloom
Bloom is a one-off sculptural piece in white porcelain and shiny glaze that seems solid and fragile at the same time. Dahlia flowers inspired Bloom, and the principle of how all the tiny leaves connect to one unit is underlined by the transparency of the porcelain.

Isola cups and one Eva cup
Isola and Eva are functional cups for coffee, tea or cocoa. The cups are feminine, recognisable and familiar in their inviting language and inspire a good atmosphere and conversation – like being with your best friends. The cups are made in stoneware, thrown on the wheel, and come in a mixture of matt and shiny glazes.

Fern collection
The Fern collection of vases in porcelain have silk print and a shiny glaze. Helene enjoys spending time in nature, where she takes photos and transforms them into images using the silk print technique. Another source of inspiration is the German photographer Karl Blossfeld.
