Filigree glass maker

  • • Frédéric started this craft at the age of 15
  • • He received the Meilleur Ouvrier de France title in 2019
  • • His work has the "Valeurs Parc Naturel Régional" label

After a visit to see glassmakers with his father, Frédéric Demoisson knew that this was what he wanted to do with his life. He started his apprenticeship at the age of 15 as a glassblower and opened his own workshop in Lorraine in 2002. He is also a trainer at the Centre Européen de Recherche et de formation aux arts verriers. He is a torch glass blower but his speciality is filigree glass and reticello. Nature and everyday life inspire his creations. For Frédéric, to be a glassblower you must first of all be passionate, but also be dedicated to your work. Precise gestures must become automatic and for that nothing is better than repeating the same gestures over and over again.

Spider Glass

Made of borosilicate glass with the filigree technique for the upper part. It is a very difficult technique to work with, only two craftsmen in France know how to master this technique. The spider is made with the spinning or sculpting technique. The idea was to make a nice cut but with an offbeat side, hence the spider.

Tree, the passing of time

Frédérique Demoisson made a tree with the four seasons that turns on itself with a fully articulated chain and two sprockets. As the tree turns, the seasons pass by without ever stopping. There are also two arches with planets representing space and infinity. Frédérique used all the modern techniques available for this piece.
