Twin achievement

  • • Eugene and Alexander are self-taught
  • • They use good quality long-lasting materials
  • • They like mid-century modern style

Eugene and Alexander Chernysh are twin brothers who make wood furniture. The love of handcrafting was cultivated in them by their father. As children, they learned to make simple objects like wooden spoons, cutting boards and pieces of decor. They are very close. When asked why they decided to work together, they reply: “It was never a question, we have always been together. We studied together, served in the army together, we have similar interests.” In 2017, they left their office job to start their own enterprise. They knew they wanted to make something substantial, like furniture. They started in a small garage in the industrial part of town. In 2018, they got a proper workshop. Their work is inspired by nature, people and the works of old and contemporary masters.

Bench

This bench is made of solid oak, the seat is woven from Danish cord (a type of paper twine). As opposed to cotton ropes, paper cords do not stretch with time. The cord is natural craft-brown colour, the oak is light brown. The bench looks minimalistic but the woven seat and the bottom stretchers give it a unique touch. The stretchers are levelled differently on the long sides to those on the short ones.

Stools

These minimalistic stools are made of solid oak and the seats are woven from Danish cord. This cord was popular among Danish furniture makers in the 1960s and 1970s. It is strong and does not stretch. The oak is brown and the cord is a natural craft-brown colour. Classic weaving method is used here. The bottom stretchers of the stools are levelled differently on the long sides to the short ones.
