This hand blown pink-hued glass sculpture is inspired by the form and function of a zoetrope, an animation device. The glass lenses encase various sized coloured bars, creating the perception of movement. When the object spins on itself, it creates a sensation of movement.

This hand worked glass sculpture is part of the Cold, Colder, Coldest series, inspired by the arctic world and the global warming. The bottom of the sculpture is a smooth, blue, water-like lens, from which an 'icy' group of rods emerges. To achieve more contrast between the two parts, Dora polished the area next to the rods creating a reflection that imitates the continuation of the ice block under water.

This glass sculptural form is part of the Hexa series, in which Dóra attempts to capture the momentary nature of biological and natural processes in their dynamic motionlessness. The hexagons create a matrix of forms connecting to each other. The hexagonal shaped rods are arranged like basalt columns creating individual islands.

This sculptural glass form is part of Dóra Varga’s Hexa’ series, in which she attempts to capture the momentary nature of biological and natural processes. The hexagons create a matrix of forms connecting to each other. The layers created by the interior colours appear as distorted images through the surface of the lens, evoking a microscopic world. The lens produces a deconstructive process, generating a constant variable in the geometric sculpture.

Through her Nursery series, Dóra Varga explores colours and proportion in small scale glass objects. In her imagination, she projected human-like characters on them and therefore I named the sculptures after forenames.
