A silver hip flask with a rectangular slightly twisted shape. One side is convex the other concave. It opens with a screw top cylindrical lid. The shape is made from four silver sheets that are formed with the hammer and soldered together. The surface is polished with a slightly brushed finish.

Balanced forms

Beate Leonards has always enjoyed working with her hands. In her youth, she had the opportunity to intern with a craft duo where she learned about the work of a ceramicist as well a silversmith. “I find metal more intriguing than clay because it does not deform easily, which makes processing much slower. Strength, as well as plans and technical solutions, are also key.” As a result of her internship, Beate began her training in silversmithing at the Zeichenakademie Hanau, and then went to Copenhagen for work experience and later studied at the art academy in Nuremberg for another six years. Among the few art academies in Europe at the time, the academy offered a silversmithing course just for silver utensils. After all these experiences, she had found her powerful aesthetic, characterised by harmoniously balanced forms, simplicity and good functionality, and she felt ready to open her own workshop.

Vase
A curved slightly asymmetric vase. Made from tombac, a brass alloy containing 85% copper. Formed with the hammer and soldered. The patination gives a warm brown colour, while the golden tombac colour still shines through.

Containers
Two containers in a round slightly conical shape. The tombac container is wide with a magenta coloured lid. Both have recesses at the opening into which the lid fits and can be gripped to open it. These grips create a colored line that is seen from the side. The lid sits just below the edge of the container so that part of the white powder-coated inside can be seen. The lids are turned, milled and lacquered. The surfaces are polished.

Vase
This vase is made from 6 asymmetrical conical shaped rings, that are formed with a hammer and soldered together. The contours are in a zigzag shape and vary from different viewpoints. The patination gives a warm brown colour, while the golden tombac colour still shines through.

Teapot
This conical teapot's slightly curved body is made of polished silver. The stainless-steel handle is brushed and forms a subtle contrast to the polished body. The lid and handle unit is opened by turning a bayonet mechanism. The body of the teapot is spun. The mechanism of the lid is forged, mounted and turned.
