Crafted in wool

  • • Anne’s lamps are woollen sculptures
  • • She loves the life of a maker
  • • Her pieces are textural and abstract

From the outset, Anne van de Weijer’s design focus was always felt lighting and wall decoration. Her roots are in architecture, which she studied and practised for ten years before diverging into the maker’s world of felt lamps and wall hangings. There is a serene aesthetic to her lamps reminiscent of minimalist sculpture; varying in size, the orbs once lit, emanate a warm glow that captures the lamp’s delicacy and unique texture and pattern. Anne’s wall coverings are like paintings in wool; experiments with colour gradients, layering colour upon colour to create art that resembles water colour landscapes, or an abstract expressionist canvas of a white circle with a smudged edge on an indigo background, that when stared at, looks as though the circle is moving.
