Harmony of light and colour

  • • Anastasya is a multidisciplinary craftswoman
  • • She focuses on her passion for gilding
  • • Her art aims for calmness, radiance and peacefulness

Trained woodcarver and gilder Anastasya Martynova works with private clients, interior designers and architects, proving that her area of expertise is as diverse as her interests. Having previously worked in set design and art directing, she combines all aspects of her background to bring a holistic eye to her masterful pieces, which mesmerise with their complexity and colours. The use of blue in her work is linked to the sky and the sea, which she describes as the most abstract and mysterious elements of the natural world. Working in the right environment is essential to being productive and fulfilled, she says, and her bright studio at Design District gives her the opportunity to thrive and see her work in the light.

Topshop perspex panel

This set of perspex panels was created by Anastasya Martynova for the Topshop flagship store in London. The two rectangular panels feature gold patterns against a deep blue background. The gold, geometric shapes combine squares, lines and triangles, and convey a feeling of depth. The piece was installed directly onto the wall, unframed.

Silence I

This hexagonal wall art is composed of gilded geometric motifs, as well as deep blue and green shapes; the feeling of movement given by the preciseness of the shapes is key. It is part of a series of artworks called the Shape of God. In this project, Anastasya Martynova explores the themes of intuition, the unseen and the impossibility of perfection.
