To translate the highly complicated design of the original painting into a woven language, Vera had to relay the essence of the original brushwork. The finished piece was integrated into a modern architecture setting to separate two distinct spaces.

This hand-tufted carpet of pure New Zealand wool is based on a design by Frieda Van Dun. Vera has reinterpreted the composition, lines and colours of the original painting without losing its overall vision. She consulted the artist on the dimensions and shape of the carpet, as well as on the colour nuances, wool and pile height.

This hand-tufted wool carpet is based on a design by Jan Vanriet. Although it may seem quite simple, the design was actually one of the most challenging on which Vera has worked. Its subtle nuances proved difficult to rephrase and translate into pure wool.

Vera considers this hand-tufted rug – an interpretation of a painter’s palette designed by Lachaert Dhanis – to be her masterpiece. She doesn’t know precisely how many colours she used because she worked intuitively, combining colours to create new shades. She also varied the pile height and used different thicknesses of wool thread. The rug is a harmonious collaboration between craft and art, a symbiosis between artistic expression and artisan methods.
