This apple shaped spoon was fully handcrafted by Despina in bronze and iron. Inspired by Adam and Eve’s story, it symbolises Eve’s apple, assuming that food is not only a source of nutrients but of love and knowledge as well.

These paper and bronze hands were created for the opening of the Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery at the Benaki Museum and express the importance of hands in the artistic process of painting, both in their strengths and their weaknesses.

This piece was created for the Benaki Museum exhibition Ptychoseis, which explored the idea of folds and pleats in fashion history. Inspired by the brand Pleats Please by Issey Miyake, Despina created a fragmented silver square in order to showcase the expressive force of pleated textures on static objects.

This is a bronze interpretation of the Olympic wreath made especially for the Kerasis Competition during the 1990 Olympic Games. Despina drew inspiration from Ruskin’s story The Crown of Wild Olive, in which he condemns the human depletion of nature, to create this well thought out bronze Möbius strip adorned with olive leaves.
