This tall conical vase was shaped by hand on a potter’s wheel using red clay. Following the creation of the initial form, roses were shaped and placed onto the form before the first firing at 1000C. Following the first firing, the vase was decorated with matte white enamel and fired a second time at 920C. Finally, gold enamel was applied onto the rose forms before a final firing at 680C.

All the world's a stage

Since her childhood, Antonietta Mazzotti has loved to play with clay, to touch matter with her hands. Her primary school teacher advised her to devote herself to art, and she followed this advice. For years, she dedicated herself to contemporary ceramics, but after meeting her husband, she also experimented with the most traditional ceramics of Faenza, which has a very ancient history. Over the years, she has taken part in group and solo exhibitions at an international level. In 1976, she transformed her neo-gothic greenhouse of villa Emaldi (where she still lives and works) into her workshop, a fairy tale place where she spends most of her time.

Romanus
This faïence vase, inspired by the form of classical Roman glass, was first shaped on a potter’s wheel and then worked on by hand, giving it its final undulated form. The vase was first fired at 1000C and then decorated with a turquoise colour enamel before its second firing at 900C. Finally, the base of the vase was decorated with gold enamel before a third and final firing at 680C.

Corolla
The base of this tall green hued vessel was shaped on a potter’s wheel. Once the initial vessel shaped, wave like forms were added on by hand and the final form fired at 980C. Once fired, green glaze was applied to the vase. This unique vase is part of a collection of works of various sizes.

New classic
The base form of this vase was shaped on a potter’s wheel and classical modelled elements were then applied by hand onto the vase. This vase was created for one of Antoinetta’ solo exhibitions entitled FREE STILE in which classical elements were used and reinterpreted in a contemporary manner. Following two initial firings, gold glaze was applied to the vase with a brush and the vase fired for a third and last time at 680C.

Divertissement
This sculptural ceramic form was first shaped on a potter’s wheel from faïence. Once the initial form was shaped, decorative strips were applied onto the surface of the sculpture before being fired at 980C. Metallic black enamel and red enamel were applied for the second firing 920C and finally gold enamel was applied by brush for a third firing at 680C. This sculpture was created for one of Antoinetta’ solo exhibitions entitled FREE STILE.
