Two fish with curled fins adorn the lid of this scaly-looking orange and purple box. It was made using the lustre technique, in which a blend of metallic salts and controlled firing produce various iridescent and chromatic effects. The work received the First Choice Award at the International Ceramics Competition in Gualdo Tadino, near Perugia.

Floral patterns appear branded onto the surface. The work was part of the collective travelling exhibition of contemporary ceramics, “Cube - Compressi”, hosted in several Italian cities.

Much like in fantasy books on sorcery, the mystery and the hidden strength that an object can conceal materialize within the box. An international panel selected the work for La Boite (The Box) competition, held in Carouge (Geneva), Switzerland, in 2011.
