The Danish visual artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen explores life, death and transformation via painting, drawing, printmaking and ceramics. Her methods are defined by her deep interest in materials, and by varying her working processes each time. She has had successful solo exhibitions in Denmark and internationally.

Head Vessel

Cathrine explores a dialogue between art and design in this pair of raku-fired ceramic vessels. As such, they combine the utilitarian purpose of a plant holder with that of a ceramic artwork. The vessels are full of life, giving the impression that they harbour faces trying to break free.

Gaia Head Vessel

The Greek goddess Gaia, one of the primordial deities, is a personification of the Earth, or Mother Nature. In this classically shaped glazed ceramic vase, Cathrine demonstrates her keen interest in mythology juxtaposed with the current social concern about the deterioration of our environment.
