A father's legacy

Bastien Boisanfray's father started teaching him how to make small leather goods when he was just 13. In 2013, when he decided to retire, Bastien and his wife Veronika took over his workshop and moved it from Normandy to Slovakia, where Veronika is from. "Here, we perpetuate the traditional techniques he taught us, such as saddle stitching, to make durable leather goods for clients," says Bastien. Customers can choose from the husband-and-wife team's made-to-order bag designs, or have a unique bespoke piece made according to their own desires, down to the last detail. The couple also train apprentices, just as Bastien's father trained him.

Henrieta
The Henrieta handbag is named after the person who first commissioned it and is inspired by an original movie prop from the 1950s. Sober at first sight, it surprises with the symmetry of its two front faces. The consistency of its shape, the precise hand stitching and the smooth edges testify to the quality of its craftsmanship.

Beaumont
The Beaumont is a variation of the Retro handbag, a Verbua bestseller inherited from Bastien's father. Bastien and Veronika gave it a new silhouette as well as a new handle attachment, whose shape was achieved using a moulding technique.

Handbag for Zuzana Čaputová, President of Slovakia
This unique handbag was designed for the investiture of Zuzana Čaputová as president of Slovakia in June 2019. The shape of the bag matches the vintage stirrup closing, which was specially renovated. The consistency of the bag's shape, the precise hand stitching and the smooth edges testify to the quality craftsmanship involved.

Clip wallet
This wallet was handcrafted using traditional leathercrafting tools and techniques. It is made with vegetable tanned bovine leather from the renowned Swedish tannery Tärnsjö Garveri and hand sewn with linen thread using the saddle stitching technique, which makes it very durable. The edges are finished with heated beeswax and hand polished.
